Friends:

I don't have to tell you that our world is in chaos, this is something we are all experiencing together. The question is how do we navigate the muddy waters of uncertainty in our day-to-day lives and remain connected to God? God is where we find our hope and our peace. So the question we are faced with is, how do we be the church in a new way?

Because of the COVID-19 virus, we have no choice but to follow the guidelines of the CDC, Gov. Reynolds and Bishop Laurie. We will not be having worship service or other activities such as Bible Study, Single Moms, Sunday School, Confirmation, TWIGS, UMM, UMW and originally scheduled meetings until it is safe to do so. It does come with a heavy heart that these decisions have to be made but it is for our well-being and safety that we practice social distancing.

We are trying to be creative in how we can keep our congregation connected. Stay tuned for updated information that we will get to you as soon as we figure it out.

Karen will be in the office on her regularly scheduled hours of Tuesday-Thursday 9:00 AM-1:00 PM. However, the church doors will remain locked for her protection. Please call her at the church at 712-469-3510 if you need anything.

If you have an emergency or Pastoral need please call Pastor Dawn at 712-660-0071.

Your financial support and responsibility is still necessary, as we still have a building to maintain with overhead expenses to be met. So as a reminder your monetary gift can be dropped in the mail and sent to Box 370, Manson, Iowa 50563 or you can go to our website at oursaviorumc.org at the top of the right page click on the Give Securely Online where you can follow the directions for online giving.

As members of the community - The Manson Ministerial Association has come up with a plan...

To establish a food program for the kids in the community who are in need of assistance.

Our Savior Methodist Church will serve as the distribution center
  • Sack lunches will be packaged with individually wrapped food items.
  • Families receiving the lunches will (drive thru at our south doors-volunteers will bring lunches to those picking up).
  • Tuesdays and Thursday from 11:30AM to 12:30PM (starting March 24th).
  • If anyone would like to volunteer to help with this, a Facebook page for this Ministerial group has been established where you can click on links and sign up check it out and do what you can to lend a helping hand.
Most importantly let's be reminded that God is still on the throne. He has already gained VICTORY! We can trust that God is in control.

Psalm 91 is a powerful Psalm to pray often. Please join me in doing so.

Now more than ever we need to be witnesses to our faith. How can we share the good news of Jesus Christ? How can we be the hands and feet of Jesus yet still practice social distancing? How can we remain calm and respond appropriately as we do God's will, God's way? Let's be creative as we join together to be a family that sticks together no matter what!

Please keep me informed. If you have questions or concerns, contact the church office 712-469-3510, the church email at osumchurch@ncn.net, my cell at 712-660-0071, or my email dawn.freese@iaumc.net.

Blessing of Peace,
Pastor Dawn and the OSUM Ad Council
