RELAY FOR LIFE
"A CARNIVAL OF HOPE" The annual American Cancer Society's Relay for Life of Calhoun County will be held on Thursday evening, June 8 around the Courthouse Square in Rockwell City. This year's relay has been titled “A Carnival of Hope” by the organizers. This event begins at 5:30 pm, right after the Farmer's Market. The Parade of Celebration is scheduled to start at 6:00 pm, followed by the Opening Ceremony and Survivor's Lap at 6:30 pm. The always-inspirational Luminaria Ceremony will begin at 9:00 pm, and the closing Ceremony is scheduled for 9:30 pm. There will be a team from OSUM Church participating again this year, led by captains Jerrold and Alice Jimmerson. Even though you may not have joined this year's OSUM team, you can still come that evening to enjoy the food, music, entertainment, and family-friendly fun, along with supporting your fellow church members as they walk to make a difference. Donations will still be accepted through Sunday morning worship on June 4, and luminaries 'in honor of' or 'in memory of' can still be ordered up until that date.

UMW ladies, you are invited to Jolley UMW's guest night at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 14 at the Jolley UMC. Featuring a salad supper followed by guest speaker, Jamie Waller, who will talk about her trip to Haiti.

SIDEWALK MONDAY SCHOOL
Will start June 19 and finish July 24, from 10:30 a.m. – noon at Good Samaritan Center. This year, Sidewalk Monday School will "go on the road" to Pomeroy's Acura Care Center for afternoon fun from 1-2:30 p.m. The theme this year is "God and Nature." There will be more info coming on how you can help this super children's outreach project.

Single Moms Care & Support Group
We provide a meal for the moms and kids each meeting, starting at 5:30 and done at 6 p.m. Please volunteer to provide a meal for the next meeting, May 21. You can join with a friend and share providing food. We usually have a main dish (could be sandwiches & chips), and dessert or salad or bread, etc.. Your service lets these moms know that you care about them and their children. Also, if you know a single mom, please invite her to the group. We do make a difference in their lives!Needed - Church Financial Secretary
Must have accounting and computer skills. Duties include managing checking and savings accounts, writing checks, payroll, and present a financial report each month to the Board. Attention: Persons With Parkison’s Disease
If you or a loved one or friend has Parkisons, with speech or swallowing problems, age 40-85, on steady PD medication and a non-smoker for at least 5 years, there will be a study examining the effects of singing on speech and swallowing in patients with Parkisons disease. Study will take place for 8 weeks in spring, 2017, by Dr. Elizabeth Stegemoller of Iowa State University, and held at the Rockwell City United Methodist Church. Village Store Needs Volunteers
The Village Store, 12 N. 25th St., next to Kemna Auto in Fort Dodge, needs volunteers to serve as cashier any afternoon Tuesday through Friday and Saturdays. Volunteers are also needed to help sort and display merchandise. Opportunities are available to volunteer one or more shifts a week, a month, or on an occasional basis. The second - hand store helps support Opportunity Village services to local people with disabilities.
